Practical Information
What to Wear
Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring Chablis old town and vineyard areas. Bring a wind/waterproof jacket—Burgundy weather can be changeable. Wine cellars maintain cool temperatures around 10°C (50°F), so layers are recommended.
Weather
We operate in all weather conditions. If the forecast is severe, we can suggest an alternative date where possible. If you can, avoid scheduling this tour as your last day in Paris—keep flexibility for rescheduling if needed.
Drive Time
Approximately 2.5–3 hours each way from Paris. Your guide stops for coffee & croissants on the way out, and a refreshment break on the return journey.
Wine Tastings
The tour includes visits to multiple wine producers, but tasting fees are not included in the tour price. Expect to spend €20–50 per person on tastings, depending on which producers you visit. Our guide can adjust the itinerary based on your budget and preferences.
About Chablis & Burgundy Wine Country
Chablis sits in the northernmost part of Burgundy, approximately 200 kilometers southeast of Paris. The region's cool climate and unique limestone-rich soil (called "Kimmeridgian") create the perfect conditions for growing Chardonnay grapes that produce crisp, mineral-driven white wines.
The wines are classified into four tiers: Petit Chablis (entry level), Chablis (standard), Chablis 1er Cru (first growth), and Chablis Grand Cru (the finest). Each tier reflects the vineyard's location and the wine's complexity.
Beyond wine, Chablis boasts remarkable Cistercian heritage, with historic abbeys like Pontigny and Reigny, medieval villages, charming churches, and traditional wash houses. The region is a living museum of French rural culture and winemaking tradition.
