Day 1 covers the D-Day landings and initial airborne operations, from the drop zones inland to the beach assaults and the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.

Day 2 follows the US Army's difficult progress inland through the hedgerows and culminates at the Falaise Gap, where German forces were encircled and defeated.

US 30th Division Epic Stand Learn about the heroic defense where the US 30th Division held off the German SS Division for almost a week during the German counteroffensive.
Scenic Route
French Countryside Drive through beautiful Norman countryside, seeing the landscape where the liberation battles were fought.
Falaise Gap
The Encirclement Battlefields Learn about the Falaise Gap and the destruction that occurred when German forces were trapped and encircled by Allied armies.

Practical Information

What to Wear
Good walking shoes and a wind/waterproof jacket are essential on the Normandy coast. In winter months, bring extra layers — the van has plenty of space for bags. You'll be walking the beaches and exploring outdoor sites.
Weather
We operate in all weather conditions. If the forecast is severe, we can suggest an alternative date where possible. Don't schedule this as your last-day tour — keep flexibility in case of extreme weather.
Drive Time
Approximately 3 hours each way from Paris. Your guide stops for coffee and croissants on the way out, and a refreshment break on the return. The van is spacious and comfortable for long drives.
Overnight Accommodation
We recommend staying in Bayeux on the night between Day 1 and Day 2. We can suggest hotels and make reservations upon booking. Your guide's accommodation and meals are included in the tour price.
