Fort de la Ferté or Fort Fermont Explore one of the largest fortifications of the French defense system. Fort de la Ferté was attacked by the Germans in 1940; Fort Fermont is one of the largest artillery positions. Learn how this "impenetrable" line was bypassed by the German blitzkrieg.

Practical Information

What to Wear
Good walking shoes and a wind/waterproof jacket are essential. You will be walking through forests, cemeteries, and over uneven terrain. In winter months, bring extra layers — the van has plenty of space for a bag.
Weather
We operate in all weather conditions. The Ardennes region can be cold and wet, especially in winter. If the forecast is severe, we can suggest an alternative date where possible. Do not schedule this as your last tour — keep flexibility for weather changes.
Drive Time
Approximately 3–3.5 hours each way from Paris. Your guide stops for coffee & croissants on the way out, and a refreshment break on the way back. Day two involves more local driving between sites.
Overnight Accommodation
You will stay overnight in Luxembourg on Day One. We provide hotel suggestions and can help with booking. The guide's accommodation, breakfast, and dinner are included in the tour price.
