Practical Information
What to Wear
Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring the palace and gardens. Bring a light jacket or sweater—the palace interiors can be cool. In winter, bring extra layers. The van has plenty of space for bags and coats.
Weather
We operate in all weather conditions. If the forecast is severe, we can suggest an alternative date where possible. The gardens are beautiful in all seasons, though spring and autumn offer the most pleasant temperatures.
Drive Time
Approximately 1 hour each way from central Paris. Your guide stops for coffee & croissants on the way out, and a refreshment break on the way back. This makes Fontainebleau ideal for travelers with limited time.
Feeding the Fish
The palace lake is home to large carp and fish. If you wish to feed them, bring some bread with you. It's a delightful experience, especially for families with children.
