About this tour

This tour focuses on the American effort on 6 June 1944. It starts where the invasion started, with the airborne drops behind Utah Beach in the night, and follows the American story west to east, to the beach assaults at Utah and Omaha and the Rangers’ climb at Pointe du Hoc.

Many of our guests on this tour come with a father or grandfather who served in the 82nd or 101st Airborne or the 1st, 4th or 29th Infantry Divisions. Tell us the unit and we will research it before the tour.

  • The Normandy American Cemetery is open every day in winter from 9 am to 5 pm, except 25 December and 1 January, with the flag lowered at 4 pm.
  • With about eight hours of daylight in December, we start in the airborne sector and at Utah Beach and reach Omaha and the cemetery before it closes.
  • Sainte-Mère-Église and the drop zones are far quieter in winter than in June, which leaves more time at the places your relative’s unit fought.

Questions about this tour

Can you find where my grandfather landed?

Usually, yes. Send us his name, unit and, if you have them, his service dates. Research takes 2 to 4 weeks, and we then build the day around his unit’s positions.

Do we see the British and Canadian beaches?

Not on this tour, which stays in the American sector. The Normandy D-Day beaches tour includes Arromanches and Pegasus Bridge.

Is this tour suitable for children?

Yes. Jozef adapts the stories to younger guests. Children stay in their parents’ care during the day.

What is your cancellation policy?

The booking fee is non-refundable. For one-day tours cancelled more than one month ahead, it can be used for a future tour; for multi-day tours, more than three months ahead. If we cancel for safety reasons, such as severe weather, we refund it in full. Read the full terms.

Is the tour really private?

Yes. It is for your group only, from 1 to 7 guests, with pickup at your Paris hotel, and the itinerary can be changed on the day.
