About this tour

In December 1944 the 101st Airborne Division, with armoured units, held the crossroads town of Bastogne against the German winter offensive in the Ardennes. Surrounded, short of ammunition and winter clothing, they refused to surrender, and General McAuliffe answered the German ultimatum with a single word, “Nuts!”.

You walk the ground where Easy Company dug in, see the foxholes still visible in Jack’s Woods and visit the key sites of the siege. Your guide brings personal stories, military detail and context to the forests and villages.

This tour in winter

20% off for tours from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027: €1,280 instead of €1,600 per group of 1–7.

  • The siege of Bastogne was fought in snow and freezing fog in December 1944. In winter you see the Ardennes much as the 101st Airborne did.
  • The Nuts Weekend, Bastogne’s yearly commemoration with re-enactors and parades, is on 11 to 13 December 2026.
  • The Bastogne War Museum is closed on 25 December and 1 January and is expected to close from 4 January to about 4 February 2027. Jack’s Woods, Foy, Bizory and the Mardasson Memorial are outdoors and open all winter.
  • The sun sets at about 4:40 pm in Bastogne in late December, so we spend the middle of the day on the battlefield.

Questions about this tour

Is a day trip to Bastogne from Paris too long?

It is a long day, about 13 hours, but the drive is comfortable and broken by stops. Guests regularly tell us it was worth it. For a slower pace, the two-day tour adds a night in Luxembourg.

Do we see the Band of Brothers sites?

Yes. Jack’s Woods, the Easy Company foxholes and Foy are at the heart of the day.

What is your cancellation policy?

The booking fee is non-refundable. For one-day tours cancelled more than one month ahead, it can be used for a future tour; for multi-day tours, more than three months ahead. If we cancel for safety reasons, such as severe weather, we refund it in full. Read the full terms.

Is the tour really private?

Yes. It is for your group only, from 1 to 7 guests, with pickup at your Paris hotel, and the itinerary can be changed on the day.
