## Why travel from Paris in winter

### Quiet sites

Winter is low season in France. You share Omaha Beach, Reims cathedral and Chambord with far fewer visitors than in summer, and short-notice dates are often still free.

### History in its own season

The Battle of the Bulge was fought in the snow from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945, and the Armistice was signed on 11 November 1918. Winter is when these stories happened.

### Wine country at festival time

The Hospices de Beaune wine auction in November, the Christmas market in Reims and Burgundy’s Saint-Vincent festival in January all fall within the offer.

### Last-minute friendly

Already in Paris? Send us your date on WhatsApp. We reply within 24 hours, and Deborah applies the winter price when she confirms your booking, with no code needed.

## Winter prices, tour by tour

Prices per group of 1 to 7 guests, for tours from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027. Pickup and drop-off at your Paris hotel, guide, 8-seater van, fuel, tolls and parking included.

## What is open in winter

The beaches, battlefields, memorials and vineyards on our routes stay open all winter. These are the closures that change a tour, checked against each site’s published opening times in November 2026. We confirm every visit again for your date.

- **25 December and 1 January**
American cemeteries (Normandy, Aisne-Marne, Luxembourg), Fontainebleau Palace, Chambord, Fontevraud Abbey, Château de Brézé and the Bastogne War Museum are closed.
- **Every Tuesday**
Fontainebleau Palace is closed, so we run the Fontainebleau half day on another day.
- **12 December 2026 to early February 2027**
The Canadian visitor centres at Vimy Ridge and Beaumont-Hamel are closed and guided tunnel tours stop. The memorials, preserved trenches and cemeteries stay open.

The Bastogne War Museum is expected to close for maintenance. Jack’s Woods, Foy, the Mardasson Memorial and the town stay open.
- **4 January to early February 2027**
Château de Brézé, on day 2 of the Loire tour, is closed; we visit another château instead.
- **December to February**
Guided visits inside the Maginot fort of La Ferté run only from March to November; on the Battle of the Bulge tour we see the outside of the fort and its cemetery.
- **Until spring 2027**
Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny are closed, usually until 1 April, so the two Giverny tours are not part of the winter offer.

## What to bring in winter

- A warm, windproof and waterproof coat, hat and gloves. The Normandy coast and the Ardennes are cold and exposed.
- Waterproof walking shoes. Battlefields, woods and vineyards are muddy after rain, and there can be snow in the Ardennes.
- An extra layer for the cellars, which stay at about 10 to 12 °C all year, and for Chambord, which is cold inside in winter.
- The van is heated, and there is room for a bag with spare shoes and clothes.

## Offer terms

- 20% off the tour price per group, for tours that take place between 1 November 2026 and 28 February 2027. Two-day tours must end by 28 February 2027, so the last start date is 27 February.
- The discount depends only on your tour date, so it also applies to guests already booked for these dates. Deborah applies it when she confirms your booking; no code is needed.
- Valid for every tour on this website except the two tours that include Giverny, where Monet’s gardens are closed in winter.
- The discount applies to the tour price, which includes the vehicle, the guide, fuel, tolls and parking, and on two-day tours the guide’s hotel and meals. Entrance fees, tastings, meals and your own hotel room are not included in any tour, as usual.
- Cannot be combined with any other discount. Subject to availability. The booking fee and cancellation terms are the same as usual.

## Questions about winter tours

**Which tours are 20% off this winter?**

All our tours except the two that include Giverny, where Monet’s house and gardens are closed in winter. That is 14 tours, from the half day at Fontainebleau to the two-day Battle of the Bulge tour.

**Which dates does the winter discount apply to?**

Tours that take place between 1 November 2026 and 28 February 2027. For two-day tours, both days must fall in that period, so the last start date is 27 February 2027.

**Do we need a promo code?**

No. Send your request as usual. Deborah applies the winter price when she confirms your booking, including for guests who had already booked a tour in the offer period.

**Can we book at the last minute?**

Yes. Winter is low season, so dates a few days ahead are often still free. Send your date on WhatsApp or through the form and we reply within 24 hours.

**Is it worth visiting the D-Day beaches in winter?**

Yes, if you dress for wind and cold. The beaches, Pointe du Hoc and the American Cemetery are open all winter and much quieter than in summer. The cemetery is open from 9 am to 5 pm and closed on 25 December and 1 January, and the sun sets around 5 pm in December, so we plan the day around daylight.

**What is open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day?**

Very little on our routes. The American cemeteries, Fontainebleau Palace, Chambord, Fontevraud Abbey and the Bastogne War Museum are all closed on 25 December and 1 January. If those are your only free days, tell us and we will suggest a route around what is open.

**Can we see Monet’s gardens at Giverny in winter?**

No. The house and gardens close after 1 November and usually reopen on 1 April. In winter, Monet’s paintings of Rouen cathedral and the water lilies can be seen in Paris museums, and we can show you Rouen itself on a custom day.

**Is the winter offer combined with other discounts?**

No, it cannot be combined with any other discount. The booking fee and cancellation terms are the same as for any other tour.
